I was looking forward to my next trip here since the moment I left in 2001, but this trip was almost a bust photographically. I just couldn't find any particularly interesting compositions, despite the good light and the perfect color of the trees. This shot, looking up South Fork Bishop Creek valley from a boulder, was the only one I knew I got, but it was also on the only roll of film I ever thought I had lost. I figured it dropped out of my backpack among the dunes of Death Valley, but luckily I found it tucked away in the folds of my duffel bag months later. This photo trip was not for naught after all!
